Scoping call
Nuclear Fusion & Aerospace Consultancy

You built the machine. We tell you what it is doing.

Fusion devices and high-power systems are hard to read from the outside. We build the simulations that explain yours, test them against your own data, and show you what changes when you scale up.

Why we exist

Programs rarely stall for lack of ambition. They stall on a question nobody answered early enough.

A team builds the machine. It fires. The data comes back. And nobody can say with confidence what happened inside it — or what happens at twice the size.

Part of the problem is that most experiments cannot see inside themselves. There are only so many ports and only so many instruments, and the physics that matters is usually happening where none of them are pointed.

Answering that takes a specialist, hard, for a few months. Then not again for a year. Almost no company can justify hiring for it. So it waits, and the program waits with it.

That is the gap we fill.

Capabilities

What we do

01

Validation & verification

Does your model agree with your machine? And what is happening where no diagnostic can see?

  • Simulations checked against your experimental data
  • Synthetic diagnostics — the simulation produces the same signal your instrument would record, so the two can be compared directly
  • Electron density from interferometry, magnetic field from B-dot probes, current from Rogowski coils
  • Shot-to-shot comparison, so one good run is not mistaken for a trend
  • Code-to-code cross-checks against an independent solver
02

Fusion & plasma simulation

A physics model of what is happening inside the machine.

  • Plasma jets, liners and magnetized targets
  • Plasma guns and how they actually discharge
  • Ignition conditions and fusion yield
  • Magnetic nozzles and plasma exhaust
03

High-power RF & pulsed power

The sources, the antennas, and the circuits that drive them.

  • Megawatt-class microwave sources and cavities
  • Horn and waveguide antenna performance
  • Capacitor banks and discharge circuits up to 100 kV
  • Arcing, overheating and instability, found before hardware is lost
04

Scale-up & design studies

What changes when it gets bigger, and which knobs actually matter.

  • Sweeps across the design space you can really build
  • Sensitivity to manufacturing tolerance and variation
  • Optimization inside the limits that genuinely bind
  • Scaling laws, with the point they stop holding stated plainly
Method

How we work

The same sequence every time, from the governing physics to the size you actually care about.

  • 1

    Start from first principles

We begin at the governing physics, not at somebody else's design.

  • 2

    Turn it into variables

Geometry, timing, energy, materials — each with a real range and a real cost.

  • 3

    Find what matters

We sweep the whole space to see which parameters decide the outcome, and which are noise.

  • 4

    Check it against reality

The model meets your data. Where they disagree, we chase it down rather than tune it away.

  • 5

    Improve the design

We push toward the best configuration your real constraints allow.

  • 6

    Scale it up

We extend to the size you care about, and say where the physics stops holding.

Engagement

Ways to work with us

One study

A single question, with a fixed deliverable and a fixed price.

Retained advisor

Ongoing technical leadership — roadmap, priorities, and a standing review with your team.

Work packages

We scope the work, bring in specialists where needed, and stay accountable for the result.

No number without a check

Every result traces back to data, a known limit, or a second code.

Assumptions in writing

You get what we included, what we left out, and where the answer stops being valid.

We will tell you it doesn't work

A no in month three is worth far more than a yes after the build.

You get a decision

Geometry, tolerances, requirements — things your team can act on, not a folder of plots.

What we have done

Liberty Fusion

Lead technical & strategy consultant
  • Our simulations now match the experiment's density measurements to within a factor of two — a gap that had stood for years.
  • Where the hardware has no diagnostic, we build the measurement in simulation — synthetic interferometry, B-dot and Rogowski-coil signals, compared against the real shots.
  • A 30-run study showed how much shot-to-shot variation the design can absorb, and set the requirements for the next generation of hardware.
  • We advise company leadership on roadmap and priorities, and keep the university and national-lab teams pulling in one direction.

Lunar Resources

RF modeling & simulation
  • Built their megawatt-class microwave modeling capability from nothing, and it is still the workflow the program runs on.
  • Turned manufacturing tolerances into pass/fail checks the production floor could use.
  • Found the failure modes — arcing, overheating, instability — before they cost hardware.

DOE ARPA-E program

Modeling & simulation lead
  • Ran more than 100 simulations across three phases of a 36-jet plasma liner experiment.
  • Produced the fusion-yield scaling laws the program planned against.
  • Spotted an unreported event in the probe data that the experiment had been missing.

Who we are

PulseVector is a specialist consultancy. We are small on purpose — you deal directly with the person doing the work, and nothing is handed to a junior you never meet.

Every engagement is led by our founder, Aalap C. Vyas, Founder & CEO and Principal Consultant. Eight years modeling fusion and pulsed-power systems for national laboratories, private companies and government programs.

When a job needs more hands than one, we bring in specialists under a defined scope and stay accountable for the whole result.

We publish. Our work appears in the peer-reviewed literature next to the experiments it was tested against — so you can read it before you hire us.

Leadership

Aalap C. Vyas — Founder & CEO, Principal Consultant. PhD candidate in Aerospace Systems Engineering, University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Recognition

National award, Orfeas Fusion 2022, for a pilot fusion power plant roadmap, presented at MIT.

Standing

Invited panelist for the IAEA on fusion for space. Peer reviewer for the AIAA Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets.

Entity

PulseVector Technologies LLC — Huntsville, Alabama. Formed January 2026.
